Saturday saw Harry and Simon take to the rostrum for one of our busiest sales, with a large amount of silver, plenty of Antiques, furniture and a great consignment of Asprey items. As usual silver was hotly contested at the beginning of the sale with bids from the room, phone, internet and commission. An ornate silver bowl by Paul Storr, hallmarked 1811-12 (660g) made £1050 much to the seller’s delight. and a fantastic Chinese silver tea set made £1900. But it is not just silver that sold well, furniture more modern and classic than antique and brown unfortunately led the way, with a lovely dining table making £800 and some industrial style items making great money.    All present have decided that they will check their drinks cabinets after a Bottle of Vintage L Garnier Chartreuse liqueur 96 proof made £630. and a selection of china quickly got to in excess of £700 which had all the dealers in the building rushing to the lot to see what they had missed. As usual post sale requests for deals have rocketed with people making offers they were not keen on calling out on the day, we actively encourage you to make an offer during the sale even if the Auctioneer has not offered that price as he can only say no. Although this week Harry met his match when being described as ‘mean’ to all and sundry by a possible buyer whose first offer was declined. He will recover eventually!
