Meet Sophie: The TikTok Creator Behind Windsor’s New Lego Auctions

Meet Sophie: The TikTok Creator Behind Windsor’s New Lego Auctions

At Windsor Auctions, we’re always looking for new ways to make specialist sales more exciting and accessible – and this year, we’re bringing something totally different to the rostrum: Lego auctions.

We actually have one live right now (ending August 3rd from 6.30pm)!

To help us promote this new theme of auction, we’re thrilled to welcome Sophie – a TikTok content creator, collector, and all-round Lego enthusiast – as our first-ever brand ambassador for Lego.

Sophie will be joining us throughout the year to create content, connect with collectors, and help build excitement in the Lego community – from house clearances and stockroom unboxings to auction-day walkthroughs.

How It Started: TikTok, Wine & A Harry Potter Minifigures

Sophie’s Lego journey began in the most unexpected way: with a glass of wine, a curious mind, and a husband who couldn’t stop buying sets.

“I’d be coming home from work and finding out that he’d bought a brand new Lego set for £180. And I’d be like, I’m sorry, what?!”

What started as a mild case of ‘Lego rage’ turned into shared curiosity.

“Rather than me getting mad about it, I was like, right, help me understand it. And he basically managed to reel me in with the concept of Harry Potter minifigures.”

A few drinks later, the pair had created Sophie’s TikTok account, designed a logo, and set the wheels in motion. Since then, she’s built a growing community of Lego fans, sharing unboxings, collection tips, and dream set hunts.

Why Buy Lego at Auction?

For many, Lego collecting has always meant eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or retail shops. So, what makes auctions a better alternative?

“Ordinarily, I would have said there isn’t really any reason why it’d be better,” Sophie admitted. “But I’ve learned through Harry (Head-auctioneer at Windsor Auctions) that the auction system is quite different to things like eBay.”

Sophie shared a real-life example that changed her mind – bidding for a Kwik-E-Mart set on eBay:

“My husband and I literally sat there together, and we watched as eBay did the little countdown… and when it hit four seconds, he was outbid by a fiver, and that was it.”

With Windsor Auctions, there’s a crucial difference: if someone places a bid in the final 10 seconds, the auction extends by 10 minutes. That means no last-second sniping – and more time to decide your max bid.

“I think when it comes to selling Lego, that’s a really good USP – because you want to get the maximum amount you can possibly get for it. So, you want to know that people are being pushed to their top bids and equally it avoids the situation where sets get snatched away from you last minute.”

What to Look For in Lego Auctions

Whether you’re buying to build or invest, Sophie says it comes down to your motivation.

“If you’re buying it because you want to keep it for a future investment… it’s about looking to see if it’s brand new in the box, if the box is in good condition, if it’s still sealed, or if it comes with the manual as well.”

But if you’re buying for the pure joy of building?

“Then I would say you’ve just got to look to the sets that you’ll enjoy, really.”

As for sets that tend to hold or grow in value?

“You know, the ones that are going to be the most desirable will be sets that have retired – because they’re harder to come by, of course. But I think it’s also just about the price – that’s hopefully going to be what will make it more desirable for people. Because people on Marketplace and eBay – they just take the absolute mick.”

Sophie’s Top Sets (and Her Dream Build)

Sophie’s own collection is broad – from Harry Potter and Technic to the Lego Art series.

“I really love the Lego art series… things like the sunflowers, Starry Night, the Milky Way. I love all of them.”

One underrated gem?

“I’m think I’d go with the Milky Way – because you don’t hear enough people talking about it. The way in which the panels… you basically have several different panels, and you could pick which panel you want to build and build it as like a team. And I think that’s a really nice interactive feature.”

She’s also currently building the Kwik-E-Mart and keeping an eye out for the elusive Scooby Doo Mystery Machine – a set that’s “small, but horrendously expensive everywhere.”

And if she could design her own dream set?

“It’d be the Queen Vic from EastEnders. I get that question on my livestreams all the time.”
