Our April Auction saw us hosting the team from Antiques Road Trip, the BBC TV show. Experts Paul Laidlaw and Kate Bliss joined us for a great day. We sold a variety of items that they had previously bought and just like the viewers have no idea until the show goes out whether they showed a profit or a loss. We will of course let you know when that will be as many asked when their Fifteen minutes of fame would be having inadvertently bid on something being sold by the experts. We would like to say a massive thank you to the behind the scenes production crew who work so hard and even with the early morning start were very good at putting everyone at their ease, we look forward to seeing them all again soon. Read MoreOur April Auction, as well as being one of our best attended was a great success with good prices being achieved on a range of quality lots. Online buyers from around the world contested for interesting items with those in the room and when we reached the Oriental section we had telephone bids from four different countries as well as the UK to add into the mix. We have always been keen to embrace technology and with our auctions streamed live on www.thesale-room.com and with additional advertising with Barneby’s this month we aim to reach as wide an audience as possible for our sellers. See below for just a selection of the items that we sold and prices achieved. If you have interesting items that you would like to consign to a sale give us a call on 01753 868076 or email us at sales@windsor...

Read MoreWe were delighted to spend a pleasant morning with the Antiques group from the Windsor U3A group. All were keen to learn about the goings on at a Provincial Auction House, what amazing finds we have had over the years the most expensive item found and the weirdest. Then we discussed how best to go about buying at Auction and although the use of bidding online has grown it was very much the popular opinion that attending viewing days and seeing the items up close was by far the best way to proceed. We discussed bidding and buyers commission and how it is often a good idea when starting out to have a chart to hand of what you are actually bidding, which is the bid price plus commission, whilst starting out to avoid surprises and confusion. Then it was on to valuations and appraisals with all sorts of things coming out of assorted bags around the room, from a hugely valuable medal collection to very collectable costume jewellery and all sorts of bits. A great group of very welcoming individuals and many thanks for having us. Sometimes it is a great way to spend time spreading the word about the joys and fun to be had at buying and selling at Auction. If you have a community group or association who might be interested in a short talk followed by appraisals give us a call on 01753...
Read MoreOur February 25th Auction had a special guest lot raising much needed funds for the fantastic charity Naomi House Children’s Hospice. Having been approached by a member of the Vodafone graduate scheme who are in the middle of a store wars charity raising campaign we were delighted to offer our services in selling this outstanding figure that had been donated to the charity. He attracted lots of attention from both on line bidders and those in the room but finally was sold to a local man who has been a Batman fanatic since early childhood. His mother embarrassed him by regaling the room with stories of him marching about in Batman pyjamas. The £800 he paid showed not only his determination to own a bit of Batman history but also to support this very worthy cause. We were delighted to support the charity and there will be another unusual lot in our March 25th sale supporting the same charity. If you want a desk with a difference watch this...
Read MoreWe had a lovely end to the year at our sale on December 10th not only did we have a busy sale with a large number of lots selling but a lovely crowd of dealers, novices and regulars enjoyed the sale along with mince pies, wine and Christmas cheer. The highlight of the sale was: Manoucher Yektai oil on canvas “Flower 1969” with original receipt dated 1970 from The Piccadilly Gallery, London. Measurements 50 cm x 45 cm. This had a guide price of £15,000 to £18,000 but after fierce bidding from the room , the internet and many phone lines both UK and Internationally based, the hammer went down at £31,000. Our client was delighted and it just goes to show that provincial Auction Houses that work hard at promotion and building a client base are able to achieve great prices. We are very much looking forward to talking to clients about interesting lots for 2017. Give us a call on 01753 868076 or email sales@windsorauctions.co.uk We are about throughout the festive...
